Liao Li, Dean of the PBCSF, delivered the opening speech. He said that 2022 is a year of uncertainties. The world experiences profound changes, while global economy encounters uncertainty and complexity, unseen in a century. We seek development and certainties amidst the uncertain world. China's economy is believed to be returning to normal and continue to demonstrate strong resilience and vitality, which will definitely attribute certainties to the world economy.

Dean Liao encourages students to “grow in uncertainties”, which requires a strong belief and sense of responsibility, also a humble attitude and active actions, to be devoted to the nation’s development. He hopes the graduates will stay modest and prudent, and continue to explore and learn throughout their lives. He encourages students to take on the responsibilities and contribute their wisdom to the world and national development. In the new decade, Tsinghua PBCSF will strive forward, together with the students, and make a difference to the world.
