Bairong and the Promise of Big Data, a case of a Chinese fintech company, co-authored by Zhang Xiaoyan, professor and associate dean of Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance, and Lauren Cohen, professor of Harvard Business School was included in HBS Case Collection.
The case focuses on Bairong Inc, a startup of credit scoring. As a provider of analysis and solution of big data in finance, it has achieved great success in credit rating by provding risk scoring algorithms to financial institutions and building financial analysis and behavior models of consumers, using AI technology, cloud computing, blockchain and big data. However, various uncertainties including the changing regulatory environment, growing competitors, talent retainment, and data accumulation and protection, are threatening the stability of the company during the IPO. How to establish a stable foothold in the huge and growing fintech field is testing the leadership of Bairong's CEO and determines its fate.
Harvard Business School is the world's first business school to create a case-based teaching model, with the most authoritative HBS Case Collection in the global business study and teaching area.
