PBCSF Hosts the First Forum at World Internet Conference

The 2015 World Internet Conference (Wuzhen Summit), jointly organized by the Cyberspace Administration of China and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, was held in Wuzhen from 28th to 30th October 2015. The Conference was attended by 1200 leading figures from governments, international organizations, enterprises, science & technology communities, and civil societies all around the world. President Xi Jinping addressed the opening ceremony, calling for countries to be able to protect their "cyber sovereignty."

The first forum of the Conference - Internet+ Forum, with 500 attendees, was hosted on the afternoon of Dec. 16th by Tsinghua PBCSF - one of the co-organizers. The opening topic of the forum is “Internet Innovation and Development”. Over 20 Internet Finance specialists, scholars, and representatives from the government and industry joined the discussion, including Ms. Wu Xiaoling, the Standing Committee Member of National People's Congress (NPC) and Vice Chairwoman of NPC Finance and Economic Committee, Mr. Guo Qingping, Deputy Governor from the People’s Bank of China, Professor Paul Romer from the New York University, Mr. Charles Adler, co-founder of Kickstarter, and representative from Tencent.


Ms. WU Xiaoling made a keynote speech on “The Data Application and Financial Development in Big Data Era” at the forum. In the speech, she fully analyzed the opportunities and challenges the big data brings us. She thinks as the core driving power of economic, financial and social development, big data should perform and be used under the clear framework of right of possession, efficient protection of rights and rational application. The application and value achievement of big data should not be at cost of property right of personal data.

Paul Romer made an in-depth analysis on the theory of internet innovation and economy growth. He believes that as a marking new tool, together with urbanization, the internet can maximize the connection between people, which may become the most powerful driving power in social economic growth.

During the Forum, PBCSF published the Global Internet Financial Model Report (2015).

The World Internet Conference is a platform for participants to exchange ideas and reach consensus. New efforts are called for “an interconnected world shared and governed by all” and urged a global cyberspace governance system to build a community of common destiny.
