On March 27, more than 100 students from the Finance EMBA 2013 Spring Class were enrolled at the PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University. With an average age of 44, these freshmen hailed from 23 provinces across the country. 72% of them had attained a master's degreeabove, 31% an EMBA degree,10% a PhD degree. Senior managers at various agencies account for 94% of the students, representing 23 listed companies. About 40% of the students work in the financial industry.

In his address, LIAO Li welcomed the Finance EMBA 2013 Spring Class students on behalf of all the studentsfaculty. He advised that the freshmen should first focus on both financeindustry,acquire proper use of financial instruments;second become caring entrepreneursthe driving engine of the "China Dream". LIAO Li also recalled the brilliant history of PBCSF, looking forward to moremore brilliant students taking their place as world-class financial leaders.

Subsequently, Party Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Finance Work HUO Xuewen, from the First Financial EMBA Class, spoke on behalf of his fellow classmates. He encouraged the freshmen to cherish the precious learning opportunity, broaden their thinkingrealize their potentials. As freshman representatives, President of General Hospital of Armed Police Forces ZHENG JingChen, President of Western Securities ZHU Jian, as well as President of the Modern Media Group SHAO Zhong, talked about why they chose PBCSF's Finance EMBA Program,expressed their expectations for two years of study. They hope to make progress together with their classmatesfind both personal growthmentoring here.

Two special keynote speeches were arranged for students. Prof. ZHOU Hao, who has 12 years of work experience at the US Federal Reserve system, delivered an address on "Use Financial Theory to Guide Financial Practices - Fed historylessons learned". Selecting four Fed policies since its establishment as examples, he closely analyzed the successfailure of U.S. central bank policy. He stated that China is going through a very important period of conversion, moving into a new era of innovation in the financial industry. A government regulatory system is needed to speed up the development of the financial markets, both for systemic riskmacro-stability. Turning to the formation of faculty, ZHOU Hao said he believes the school will set up a world-class team of professors in the near future.

Jiuding Investment Management founder, HUANG Xiaojie, shared stories from the perspective of a school alumnus. He suggested that a great school must have a deep understanding of the social development trends, leaders that can integrate resourcespoliticians, faculties that are fully dedicated to teachingresearch,commitment to common good of humanity as a moralcultural pillar. Finally, he expressed looking forward to the Finance EMBA students leading the school to become the most valuable business education institution in China.

After the orientation ceremony, all the freshmen participated in the welcome party, held in the Liaoning International Hotel. Dean WuXiaoling welcomed freshmen to the PBCSF familyshared her view of the "China Dream". Wu proposed that protecting lawful rightsinterests is the key part of the China dream,the cornerstone of national prosperity; the core of finance is to protect the property rights of citizens,those in power should be promoters of the law. WU also used a famous quote from FAN Zhongyan, "Concern for the people when in high position, concern for the monarch when lacking capacity" to encourage students,to express hope that they can keep Tsingua's motto of "self-disciplinesocial commitment"PBCSF's mission in heart to open up a new start for the "China Dream" after three decades of reform.

First Finance EMBA Class student Li Xue talked about his learning experience over the past six months, sharing wonderful momentsexpressing well wishes.
