PBC School of Finance Holds Insurance Industry Panel Discussion

On July 26, 2012, the PBC School of Finance held a faculty panel discussion on important issues facing the insurance industry. The discussion took place at the offices of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC). The session was presided over by Deputy ChairmanSchool Board Member ZHOU Yanli. Also in attendance, were former Deputy Chairman of the CIRC and  current President of the China Association of Actuaries WEI Yinning, Vice Presidents of China Life Insurance LIAO JianminWAN Feng, CIRC Directors MENG Long, GONG YishengLI Hang, Senior Associate Dean NIE Fenghua, Associate Dean KANG Yitong,PBCSF administrative directors.

The panel discussed challengesdifficulties facing the insurance industry today, and gave advices to the School of Finance on curriculum design, teaching management,development of related course materials.

Deputy Chairman Zhou indicated, at the end of the meeting, that the increasing importance of insurance in economic development should be reflected in the school’s curriculum, by adding more current insurance related issues to itby hosting regular lecture series. He also stressed that the school should strengthen its ties with the industrypursue more development opportunities through industry oriented research.
