Gu Liangfei, Chair Person of Tsinghua PBCSF School Council, Leads Delegation to Singapore

In response to the Belt and Road Initiative and to promoting exchanges and cooperation with top institutions in Singapore, a delegation from Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance (Tsinghua PBCSF), led by Chair Person of the School Council, Mr. Gu Liangfei visited Singapore from September 24 to 27, 2024. The delegation included Zhang Xiaoyan, Associate Dean and Chair Professor, Assistant Deans Yuan Yuan and Zhang Wei, as well as heads of relevant departments.

During the visit, the delegation met with several prestigious institutions, including the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University (SMU), the Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the NUS Business School. They held discussions with Shantanu BHATTACHARYA, Deputy Dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Jun Yang, Dean of Nanyang Business School, Quah Danny, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and Andrew K. Rose, Dean of NUS Business School, as well as other key representatives from these institutions.

During the meetings, Gu Liangfei introduced the key strengths, unique features, and recent developments of Tsinghua PBCSF. He engaged in in-depth discussions with his counterparts on topics such as academic models, talent development, research collaboration, faculty growth, and administrative management. Both sides agreed that there are significant opportunities for collaboration in areas like talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, and joint research. By leveraging their respective strengths, they aim to enhance cooperation between China and Singapore in the field of financial education, achieving mutual benefits and a win-win partnership.

While in Singapore, the delegation also visited Sparkoo Technologies Singapore Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Huawei Cloud, as well as the digital banking division of Grab, a leading multi-service platform in Southeast Asia. These visits aimed to gain insights into the development of digital technology in Southeast Asia and explore how digital solutions can empower the financial sector by supporting inclusive finance and the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

From September 25 to 27, the delegation also participated in the Asia New Vision Forum 2024, where Tsinghua PBCSF served as an academic partner. Gu Liangfei, Zhang Xiaoyan, and others delivered speeches at the forum. In addition, the delegation conducted research on alumni businesses and met with local alumni during their stay in Singapore.
