Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance Engages with WTO and WEF for Strategic Cooperation

Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance (Tsinghua PBCSF), under the leadership of Dean JIAO Jie, has initiated strategic discussions with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) to explore collaborative opportunities in Geneva, Switzerland on November 25, 2024.

Dean JIAO met with WTO Deputy Director-General ZHANG Xiangchen to discuss potential cooperation in joint research, financial governance, and talent development. ZHANG proposed collaborative research in trade finance and development finance, aiming to integrate theoretical and practical research models. He also encouraged Tsinghua PBCSF students to engage with the WTO Chairs Programme to enhance their international competitiveness and global capabilities through participation in annual conferences, internships, and research projects.

The Tsinghua PBCSF delegation conducted a series of meetings with various WEF departments, including Financial and Monetary Systems, Strategic Intelligence, Nature and Climate, Talent Acquisition, and Global Future Councils. Discussions covered a range of topics from financial policy and climate finance to talent recruitment and knowledge community development. A broad consensus was reached on faculty cooperation, think tank cooperation, joint research, data sharing, student internships, and organizing international financial forums.

In the future, Tsinghua PBCSF is committed to deepening its cooperation with the WTO and WEF. This includes increasing faculty and student participation in WTO and WEF activities, expanding internship and academic exchange opportunities, and fostering talents in global economic governance. The school also aims to strengthen academic research, policy formulation, and think tank development, co-organize international financial conferences, and engage more deeply in international economic governance through platforms like the WTO Public Forum and the Aid for Trade Global Review.

These initiatives are designed to contribute to the cultivation of financial talents with an international perspective, enhance the development and global influence of Tsinghua University's finance disciplines, and promote the sustainable development of the global economy.
