Beijing, 12–16 May 2026 – Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance (PBCSF), the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC) and The Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) jointly organized the global finance capacity building program in Beijing on 12-16 May 2026, focusing on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in building inclusive and responsible financial ecosystems.

Now in its second year of collaboration among 3 parties, the event brought together 35 participants from global financial regulatory agencies, financial institutions and international organizations. Attendees got the chance to examine China’s practical experience in deploying AI for financial services, with the aim of identifying suitable applications for financial inclusion policy, risk management in their own economies.
“AI is transforming the financial ecosystem at an unprecedented pace – far outstripping the evolution of traditional regulatory frameworks,” said Professor Jiao Jie, Dean of PBCSF. “When AI-driven decisions become difficult to interpret, and cross-border data flows challenge established regulatory boundaries, we must fundamentally rethink our regulatory philosophies, tools, and models of international cooperation.”

“There is no better place to hold this conversation than China, a global leader in large-scale AI deployment,” said Soo Yuen Chee, Deputy CEO & COO of AFI. “The opportunity for our network to learn directly from China’s successes and challenges – and to adapt those lessons to local contexts – is truly invaluable.”

“Based in Hong Kong, we witness flashy technological breakthroughs every day – from massive IPOs and M&As to explosive financing stories,” said Joyce Zhang, Vice Chairwoman of FCSSC. “But what about the daily lives of those who remain on the sidelines of this dazzling world? Financial inclusion cannot be achieved alone – and neither can this programme. It stands as a testament to the power of partnership among FCSSC, AFI, and PBCSF.”

Beyond classroom sessions, participants visited leading Chinese technology companies to observe how AI deployment and data security are governed at scale. Following the capacity building program, attendees took part in the Tsinghua PBCSF Global Finance Forum in Chengdu on 18–19 May 2026.
