Abstract:

This year represents the tenth anniversary of the fall of Lehman and the height of the financial crisis. In this presentation, I will summarize what we have learned about the crisis since then, including in half a dozen papers I have written. I will discuss what we don’t understand and where research should focus going forward. Finally, I will try to answer the question of whether we are on a better footing to avoid a repeat of such a crisis now following the implementation of post-crisis regulatory changes, including some that I was associated with and that are summarized in the Squam Lake Report.
