Recently,
two internationally renowned Chinese scholars, Dr. Xuan Tian and Dr. Hong
Zhang, as well as two young scholars, Dr. Zhuo Chen and Dr. Bibo Liu, joined the
faculty team of Tsinghua PBCSF.
Before
working as a professor at Tsinghua PBCSF, Xuan Tian has been an Associate
Professor of Finance with tenure since 2014 (on leave) and was an Assistant
Professor of Finance between 2008 and 2014 at the Kelley School of Business at
Indiana University. He is an award winning researcher in the areas of corporate
finance and financial intermediation with special research interests on venture
capital, private equity, corporate innovation, and payout policy. Within the
six years after he obtained his Ph.D. in Finance, Professor Tian had seven
papers published in Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics and Review of Financial Studies. His
research was widely cited and continuously included in the required
reading list for Ph.D. programs at world-class universities.
Hong Zhang is currently an Associate Professor of Finance at Tsinghua PBCSF. His research covers international
finance, institutions, investments (especially related to mutual funds and
hedge funds), as well as corporate governance. His recent paper was cited by The New York Times and Financial Advisor Magazine as to "have solved a
big problem for mutual fund rating systems". The same paper had
also been listed on SSRN's Top Ten download list for "AFA 2004 San Diego
Meetings All Time Hits" and "European Finance Association Meetings
(EFA) (Archive) All Time Hits". Zhang received his PhD in Finance from
Yale School of Management in 2004. Before
joining PBCSF, he had worked at INSEAD since 2004, and visited Yale
School of Management and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. He has rich experience in MBA teaching and senior executive education, with multiple research cases
published in ECCH.
Zhuo
Chen is currently an Assistant Professor at Tsinghua PBCSF. Chen received his
Ph.D. in Finance from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in
2014. Before that, he earned his M.A. degree in Economics from Duke University
in 2009 and dual bachelor degrees in engineering and economics from Peking
University in 2007. His research interests include empirical asset pricing,
with a focus on financial market frictions, financial econometrics, and
quantitative portfolio management. His research has won several awards,
including Chicago Quantitative Alliance (CQA) Academic Competition, PanAgora
Crowell Memorial Prize Finalist, and Australasian Finance and Banking
Conference PhD Forum Second Prize.
Bibo
Liu is currently an Assistant Professor at Tsinghua PBCSF. Liu received his PhD
in Economics from School of of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University in
2010, and his bachelor degree in Finance from Tsinghua University in 2005. He
worked as a vice president at the Equity Capital Markets Department of CITIC
Securities before joining Tsinghua. His research interests include agency and
information issues in corporate finance with a focus on Chinese financial
market. His research has been published in influential financial journals such
as Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Management and Journal of Financial Research. His
research has won several awards, including the Minoru Kobayashi China Economic
Research Fund Grant and the Carlye Group PE Fellowship.
As of November, 2014, Tsinghua PBCSF has
a full-time faculty consisting of 11 teachers and there will be more
outstanding scholars joining the School by the end of the semester. The School
aims to build a first-class faculty team in the next 3 to 5 years.
