On Nov. 3rd, Shigeto Nagai, Director-General of Bank of Japan
International Department, gave a lecture entitled “The Problem of Long-term Stagflation-from
the Perspective of a Japanese Economist” to Tsinghua PBCSF students.
Nagai talked about the long-term stagflation in Japan, analyzed US and
Eurozone economies, and shared Japan’s experience in dealing with stagflation
with the audience. He also exchanged ideas with the audience about the “lost
decade” in Japan and briefly introduced the central bank’s monetary policy,
economic restructuring framework and future regulations on inflation
targeting.
