The Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Research Center (MPFSRC), affiliated to Tsinghua National Institute of Financial Research (NIFR) based at Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance, seeks to fill a postdoctoral fellow in applied economics for a full-time two-year position. The prospective candidate will contribute primarily to the field of Financial Economics, Banking and Regulation, and Information Economics.

This center provides government policymakers with policy advice regarding financial stability and financial regulation. MPFSRC also undertakes mid- to long-term research projects sponsored by the central bank, financial regulators, and other government agencies. The Post-Doctoral Scholar will work closely with the Center’s Associate Director, Prof. Zhen Zhou, and collaborate with other post-docs and faculty members at the PBC School of Finance.

The goal of the program is to help postdoctoral fellows launch a successful academic career through mentored research and professional development. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to a high-quality research environment by pursuing outstanding research and by leading or joining projects of the Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Research Center (about 30-40% of the time). The fellow will benefit from mentored research training, participation in intellectual activities such as seminars and workshops, and opportunities to pursue internal and external funding. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include health insurance, research support, and generous annual leave.

Required Qualifications:
  1. Applicants must have acquired their Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, or related fields by the time of appointment or within the previous 2 years.

  2. Demonstrated solid expertise and interest in at least one of the following:

    (1) Banking and Financial Intermediation, and (2) Information Economics.

  3. Demonstrated independent research capability, strong theoretical background and/or proficiency in empirical research methods.

  4. Proven record of peer-reviewed publications would be an advantage.
