Research Center for Financial Development and RegTech is affiliated to PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University. As an important think tank in the field of digital finance, the Center has undertaken and completed a number of relevant research projects commissioned by government departments, regulatory authorities, financial institutions and other entities. Combining theory and practice, the Center conducts cutting-edge research on topics such as digital transformation and development of financial institutions, structural evolution of the financial industry, development of new business models enabled by fintech, supply chain finance, data as a factor of production, technology outsourcing, construction of the financial talent system, the new situation of financial stability, formulation of regulatory policies, and practice of financial RegTech, etc. The Center has participated in many conferences hosted by government departments and regulatory authorities, and put forward policy recommendations. The Center has built a platform for cross-border communication and cooperation in the fields of finance, technology, regulation, and academe, providing suggestions for the stable and innovative development of the financial industry, especially the banking industry, and contributing to the construction of a financially robust country.

Since March 2022, the person in charge of the Center has been Jianhua Zhang, Research Professor of the School, Counselor of the People's Bank of China, and Editor-in-Chief of "Tsinghua Financial Review". Jianhua Zhang is an expert enjoying the Government Special Allowance of the State Council, and has worked in the People's Bank of China for a long time, and once served as Director of the Research Bureau of the People's Bank of China, the President of the Huaxia Bank, and other positions.
