Research Center for Growth and Macroeconomic Policy

The Research Center for Growth and Macroeconomic Policy was established in April 2018 under the Tsinghua National Institute of Financial Research. The center is dedicated to both fundamental research that helps to understand China’s economic growth and structural change and policy research that studies macroeconomic policies in an environment with rapid technological change, structural transformation, and changing external conditions.

The director of the center is Xiaodong Zhu, who is a full professor of economics at the University of Toronto and a visiting scholar at the Tsinghua PBC School of Finance. His main research areas are macroeconomics, growth and development, and the Chinese economy. He has published many articles in leading economics journals such as the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Perspectives, and Journal of Development Economics.
